Salt Therapy Breathing Centre first opened it's doors in 2010. It is a family owned and operated business, founded with the desire to provide natural, alternative options to those struggling with respiratory conditions and physical ailments. We are proud of the unique, natural therapies we offer to London and surrounding areas, and feel grateful for the response and support we've had from the community.
History
Salt Therapy is 100 per cent natural, drug-free and non-invasive. Although salt respiratory therapy is new to Canada, in many countries in Europe the therapy is considered conventional and is covered by health insurance programs. There is about a 90 per cent success rate with children under the age of seven. For adults, the success rate is about 70 per cent.
Our Services
Salt Room Therapy
The micro-climate in our salt room uses salt from blocks cut and imported from a mine in the Ukraine. The salt suspended in the air is released naturally through convective diffusion from the walls. By strictly controlling the temperature and humidity it is possible to create a hypo-bacterial and allergen-free air environment. The microscopic salt molecules (negatively charged ions) travel through the sinus and respiratory systems absorbing moisture, cleansing, clearing mucus and killing bacteria.
We have two comfortable Salt Rooms to support your therapy sessions. One of our rooms is for adults to provide a more serene environment for relaxation. The second room is built like a playroom, complete with toys and books, so that children can enjoy the session without being aware that they are receiving treatment. One parent can enjoy the treatment with their children under 9 years, as adult supervision is required. Salt Room Therapy is suitable for adults and children from the age of 4 months and up. All forms of clothing are suitable and you will be provided with booties to go over your shoes. A standard treatment program consists of 2 treatments per week for the first several weeks, followed by treatment once a week for several weeks. However, we can work with you to develop a treatment program specific to your conditions.
Massage Therapy
Salt Therapy Breathing Centre has two experienced Registered Massage Therapists. They offer 30, 60 and 90 minute massages in our relaxing therapy room, or can provide you with the unique experience of having your massage within the atmosphere of our salt room! We are also excited to offer the opportunity to enhance the therapeutic value and relaxation of a massage by combining it with a 30 minute float session. For those who struggle with lying flat on their back or stomach due to respiratory conditions, we have an Earthlite Vortex Massage Chair, which can be used during the massage.
